TO ALL MY LITERATURE 9D PEEPS...

GREETINGS MY PRINCESS BRIDES!

Here is your work for today...please complete it before 3:10PM this afternoon, Thursday, 20 May 2010.

DENOUEMENT: A French word meaning "unknotting" or "unwinding," denouement refers to the outcome or result of a complex or difficult situation or sequence of events, an aftermath or resolution that usually occurs or takes place near the final stages of the plot. It is the unraveling or straightening out of the main dramatic complications in a novel, play, or other work of literature.

From your assigned Class Novel # 4, find a good and clear example that would best represent this Literary Term. Since this is a first-come-first-serve exercise, PLEASE read what has been posted first by others before posting your own response to this. NO REPETITION of examples is allowed! You have until 3:10PM this afternoon to complete this task. Thank you and good luck! Be safe and take care...CIAO!!!

  1. The denouement or resolution of "The Princess Bride" is when all conflicts were solved, and also when every character granted their wishes. For example, Inigo Montoya killed the six-fingered man (a man that killed Inigo Montoya's father); Westley had successfully rescued Buttercup from Prince Humperdink and they lived happily ever after.

  2. The denouement consists of events that follow the climax or a difficult situation of a story. An example would be when Miracle Max revived Westly from the dead. After being in the Zoo of Death, Weslty got killed, and the story went badly for all, Buttercup and others. But at last Inigo and Fezzik showed up, went into the Zoo of Death, and took Westly to Miracle Max. This gave hopes to the readers that Buttercup and Westly will meet each other again.

But when she push the man in black down the hill, after the man in black says "as you wish", Buttercup realize that the man in black was Westley. And so, she doesn't hate the man in black anymore and their relationship started again

  10. Denouement basically makes all the characters back to the stage in which conflicts are solved. In The Princess Bride, after Inigo and Fezzik revived Westley, they went back to Humperdinck to save Buttercup from the wedding. Inigo killed Rugen, and Westley defeated Humperdinck. Buttercup did not succeed in her suicide, and she promised to live with Westely. They rode away, according to William Goldman's father. This is the denouement of the book, The Princess Bride

  12. Denouement also happened when Westley and Buttercup were at the fire swamp and the Prince's force were waiting outside, we were worrying how Buttercup and Westley would get out of this one, and Buttercup told the Prince that she is going with him and told the Prince to leave Westley alone. That is the resolution in this conflict.
